Hugues de Mazancourt
Vice President, Innovation
Hugues is VP of Innovation at Yseop, having spent a rich career working in NLG. He is responsible for NLU developments and the Yseop Lab, where we prototype new products and produce new integrated components.
Having worked on the natural-language access for the French Yellow Pages, which was the first general audience natural-language search interface in the world, Hugues launched and built a start-up, Lingway, focused on semantic search and text mining. Lingway was bought by CRM-specialist Eptica in 2012 and Hugues became Innovation Director of the SME.
Fast-forward to today: Hugues brings extensive machine-learning and related technology expertise and experience to Yseop's portfolio, all while being an expert for Cap Digital and a master degree lecturer at Paris Diderot.
Hugues has always been committed to sharing knowledge and collaborating across the industry, to foster innovation in natural language technology. He previously led a collective initiative called the "Big Data Charter" focused on ethics in NLP and related fields, compliance with which is now a requirement for state-funded innovation projects. In 2001 he started APIL, an association for professionals in Natural Language Processing, acting as president back in 2004; a role he has taken up again this year for the association's new start in 2019.
In his spare time Hugues is a huge fan of comics and has many sculptures and signed lithos from some famous cartoonists!
